The Animation School is South Africa’s leading specialist animation training institute. Its students consistently win top honours at various local and international award ceremonies, with graduates being employed by leading animation studios around the world.
In July 2013, The Animations School commissioned Clockwork Media to build a strong local social media presence for itself, and to secure article placements with specialist and leading media organisations in South Africa.
Upon appointment, Clockwork Media immediately engaged in a strategically crafted content production schedule, using carefully created digital advertising campaigns to set about building a strong social media footprint for the school, including dedicated Facebook and Twitter profiles.
The agency also identified specific media channels to target, and engaged in an ongoing media relations programme.
Within 3 months of being commissioned, Clockwork Media grew The Animation School’s Facebook presence from under 500 to over 4 000 fans. It also secured a Twitter following of over 250 people. These platforms are now used to engage with a captive audience on topics related to the industry, as well as showcasing the school’s achievements and promote its curriculum. The Animation School receives between 30 and 40 enquires from prospective students on a monthly basis via its social media channels.
